Audiology

Audiology is the study of hearing and hearing disorders. The professional trained in these areas is an Audiologist.  An Audiologist has at least a Master’s degree and may also hold a Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association, or individual state licensure.

Audiologists administer and evaluate a variety of diagnostic hearing tests.  They may also perform tests to evaluate balance disorders.  These tests will help determine the cause of a hearing loss and possible treatment options.

Audiologists are the professionals responsible for evaluating and fitting hearing aids. They may work in conjunction with an Ear, Nose and Throat  doctor or in a private practice.
