Any part of the body with uneven skin tone, diffuse redness, or sun and age spots can be safely treated. What does the treatment do? The light delivered by the Photo Genesis procedure is selectively absorbed by the pigmented spots and red areas on your skin. It is the heating of the pigmented cells that caused the therapeutic effect. What do treatments feel like? When the pulse of light is delivered, you may feel a mild, brief pinching sensation. How many treatments will be needed? Typically, one or two treatments are sufficient to see dramatic results. What happens after the treatment? Immediately following the treatment, the spots may start to darken. There may be a slight reddening of the surrounding skin. This subsides with a couple of hours. Over the course of the nest one to three weeks, darkened spots will fade and flake off. Over time new spots may appear if there is sufficient sun exposure.
